Default Rigid Aluminum Clothes Dryer Duct

I have to duct a clothes dryer. I will use 4" rigid aluminum duct. It will have a total length of approximately 18 feet. 12 feet will be a supported horizontal run between floor joists in a crawl space. Is the gauge of the aluminum a factor due to the length? I can only find rigid aluminum in Lowes and HD. The 'real' sheet metal supplier that I have used does not stock rigid aluminum. The Lowes product seems to be light gauge compared to the galvanized duct which is either 26 or 30 gauge.

The gauge will be fine. It is more or less the length of the run that will hurt you. The longer the run increases the chance that lint will lay in the pipe causing a blockage. Use tape and as few elbows as possible.
