Default Galvanized Iron

Does anyone know about when G.I. came into use for ductwork, flue pipes and household articles. I remember a lot of what I was told was IC tin panning in basements when I was tagging along playing gofer (probably more hinderance than help, but my Dad and Uncle never let on). Just curious, one of those things I should have asked Dad, but never did. Funny how you think of these questions too late. John
