Default Medieval Knights Helmet -13th century

Sorry i have not been around for a couple of months, I was hired mid January and have been working nearly 60 hours a week. The money will be good if I live to spend it.

This was my third year project as an apprentice. Everybody was was making tool boxes and I was not inspired in the least.
The design is authentic except I added the brass trim for visual interest. The director specified I use 16 ga. stainless, [ I know the old masters did not have stainless to work with], no welding or pop rivets. That left me with hand riveting. Fortunately, I had recently completed the blowpipe class, never done it since, of course. The helmet took about 20 hours to make, the riveting took 12 hours alone. I will try to post a picture of the riveting soon.

I had fun, especially at halloween.

I have a 2" piece of foam rubber in the top, i carved a little bit out to fit the top of my head. If you stand or sit straight, with your shoulders down, a small flick of a finger and it sounds like a large chinese gong, a wonderful sound!
In the olden days, they used what ever they could, rolled up rags were very common with a small pillow in the middle.

Now's your chance to try it out. There's a show on the History channel called Full Metal Jousting. Tuesday nights I believe. Good luck!
